Social fakes

It feels wrong when people, especially creative ones, use social media not because and when they feel it but purely to sell their product, get more likes and followers. Some even hire virtual assistants to keep online appearances. Don’t really see much point in following anybody like this. It is not for real. I am not saying that artists shouldn’t share their work. But tailoring everything you are saying and doing for maximum profit is just too cold hearted, mechanical, non-human.

Another annoying trend is persistent luring into payed membership communities by people trying to earn money online. Yes, everybody has their right for an income. But we are so used to free interaction within forums, groups, chat rooms. .. Maybe this is to change. Maybe it’s inevitable. In a way it is fair if people earn at least a penny for every like or repost of their content. But will we be willing to pay?
