…Roman pottery from a museum. It took me a while to realise that mass produced goods (and foods!) is a sign of progress and prosperity. They require less time and effort so everybody can get more creative doing something else. As a print, people can afford any artwork to put on their walls now, and it’s wonderful. Handmade (if it’s any good) is a luxury for a few collectors to whom it rightly belongs. Romans made few first steps on the road of civilization, we came a very long way since. Luddites will moan, but the world they advocate for is Dark Ages, endless repetative manual labour, ignorance, early death and deseases. This is what being close to nature really is… (at Linandara art & craft)
